Point in canon taken from: Just after Season 4, Episode 7
Appearance: Castiel’s true form cannot be witnessed by humans as it is too overwhelming for them. His current vessel, though, stands at about six feet and weighs close to 180 pounds. Castiel cares very little as to what he wears and prefers to just continue wearing what his vessel wore when he possessed him: a plain black suit, black Italian leather dress shoes, white dress shirt, dark blue tie (that brings out his the deep blue in his eyes), and a khaki trench coat that is normally worn open. His dark brown hair is generally just gelled up to keep it out of his eyes without cutting it.
Personality: Castiel tends to be seen as, to put it in the words of Dean Winchester, a dick. The angel approaches his time on earth in a straightforward manner, caring little for pleasantries and other human inventions for conversation. However, as he spends more time here, he has become more and more human, picking up human emotions such as doubt, amusement, and even a little sarcasm. He does care for humans, despite his brusque nature.
History: Castiel was created by God at the beginning of time when the universe came into existence so he has spent billions upon billions of years watching the earth and its development. He walked the earth once before two thousand years ago before his Lord died to save mankind. The angels were recalled into Heaven in the tumult that followed the crucifixion to prevent unnecessary casualties. Castiel also spent a few short hours another instance later when he set St. Peter free from Herod’s prison the night before his trial.
Prior to returning again to the earth, Castiel spent a good deal of time with the archangels, creating a close bond especially with Uriel (who now recently joined Castiel on earth). However, when the occasion arose for an angel to rescue one Dean Winchester from Hell, he volunteered, having enjoyed what little time he spent on earth before. Pulling Dean from Hell was more complicated than he predicted but he easily found a devout man praying for deliverance and, when Castiel entered his body, the vessel’s soul cried out for joy before being released to Heaven.
Since Dean’s rescue from Hell, Castiel has kept tabs on the hunter, popping in from time to time to offer advice but overall has yet to have an immense influence on the hunter. However, the angel has hopes that as time passes and Dean gains more faith that he will have more positive encounters with the hunter.
